Package: firmware-misc-nonfree
Version: 20170823-1
Severity: minor

Linux kernel shows me the warning at boot time. It looks like "missing
firmware i915/kbl_dmc_ver1_04.bin", but the package contains i915/
kbl_dmc_ver1_01.bin. A newer kernel requires 1.04 version. Please update the
firmware.

Thank you, but nothing else is needed. Romain, there was no reason to
ask for this and therefore I removed the *moreinfo* tag. It’s clear,
that an update of the package is needed, as the file is present in the
Linux firmware git repository [1] added in commit [2].

Also, the severity is set to normal again, as the device is not fully
operational without the firmware, as the battery will not last as long
as possible.

It’d be great if a new version of the Debian packages was released.

Alexander, until the new version is released, you can work around it, by
copying the file into `/lib/firmware/i915/`.

Kind regards,

Paul

PS: Romain, please follow the netiquette and do not top post.
Interleaved style is preferred in the free software world. Also, it’d be
great if you just sent plain text messages with no HTML. [3]

Hi all

Almost two month past since the last message, and still don't have a
new release of this package, it's a shame since QA informs there is 20
commits since the tag debian/20170823-1. I cannot found any new release
in the Tracker.

Please consider that many people use Testing, or Stable Backports, and
may require this package in sync with the released Kernel, and their
bug reports will result in a better Buster release.

Thanks!!

I'm not sure if this is allowed but "upvote". I have all sorts of start
up errors related to this and it's a pain.
