On previous kernel 4.11.x i have also this problem by i pass a parameter in kernel module and it worked fine. Versions of packages firmware-realtek suggests: ii initramfs-tools 0.130 -- no debconf information

Yes, but it should be working out of box without reinstalling the module from the github repository. It should be fixed.
