SubjectBug#860533: initramfs-tools: boot delayed by 30sec. due to /scripts/local-block loop
Message-ID<txxCq-4sb-11@gated-at.bofh.it>
Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.128
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After upgrade initramfs-tools from 0.127 to 0.128 I'm experiencing a
slowdown during the boot process.
Booting in debug mode I can see that

Begin: Waiting for suspend/resume device ...
Begin: Running /scripts/local-block ... done.
Begin: Running /scripts/local-block ... done.
Begin: Running /scripts/local-block ... done.
[...]

loop about 30 times, 1sec each.

after that the boot continues without any particular problem.

Thanks
E.

Does this system have a swap partition?

Is there a resume device specified in
/etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume and does it exist?

Ben.

Hi Ben,

> Does this system have a swap partition?

No, never had.
I'm using the

/dev/sda5 39628800 59160575 19531776 9.3G Intel Fast Flash

handled by the bios.

> Is there a resume device specified in

Now that you point me to it, yes, it is present and I have no idea where
that UUID comes from.

No blkid device has that UUID.

I have removed the file, update the initramfs and now the problem seems
solved. Still I have no idea where did it comes from, maybe an old upgrade?

Thanks for the help.

Probably from the initial installation. But it did no harm until I
implemented a wait for the resume device to appear.

Ben.
