Hallo Ingo,

konntest Du das Problem lösen?
Es liegt an den locales!
Man hat den selben Effekt mit einr nichtsagenden Message, wenn man mit
sftp auf den Host geht: No such file or directory

  dpkg-reconfigure locales

auf dem Host hilft Jessie auf die Beine. Ween man auf beiden Hosts exakt
die gleiche Zeichennsätze aktiviert.
Default braucht man nicht (keine).

Habe lange gebraucht, um das Problem einzukreisen.
