With latest update from atheros firmware, the wifi stopped working completely.
I believe the relevant output for dmesg is:

It also does not work with the firmware from unstable (maybe the device is too
new?) but it used to work with some version from experimental.

Actually, wifi does work with the version from unstable. I think I had to
downgrade the whole firmware-free/non-free to unstable to make it work again.

(This file was never included in the package, so these messages don't
seem to indicate a regression.)

Other firmware files under ath12k/WCN7850/hw2.0 changed in upstream
versions 20250509 and 20250613.

Can you please test version 20250509-1 (from snapshot.debian.org) so we
can tell which of the 2 updates broke this?

Also please provide the output of "lspci -nnvv -s 0000:c2:00.0".

Ben.

20250509 also does not work. Note, I simply updated the single
firmware-atheros_20250509-1_all.deb and not firmware-nonfree etc so it
did not trigger the initrd update. I don't know if this is relevant here
so I mention it just in case.

Sure thing, see the attachment.

Thanks for taking care,

Hi all,

Debian received a regression report for a recent update to the WCN7850:

(Debian applies a patch that adds the "firmware: failed to load" log
message but doesn't make any functional changes.)

The change was between 20250410 and 20250708, so I asked Bastian to also
test 20250509:

These files were updated again in upstream version 20250808, but (as
usual) I don't know exactly what the update is intended to change. I
have just uploaded the new version to unstable.

Can you test whether this is fixed in 20250808-1?

If not, I will revert these files to the versions that were in 20250410,
until this is properly addressed upstream.
