I think in meanwhile we should close this bug downstream.

If it's still reproducible it has be handled upstream first before a
fix can flow down back to us in Debian.

Yes, perhaps.

This was for a very old machine (2015). I don't know whether this
was reproducible with newer kernels because I had to switch to the
Nvidia drivers for another reason, as explained.
