This bug still exists in testing, tested using the latest
debian-live-testing-amd64-xfce.iso (linux-image-amd64 6.12.12-1).

As before, running this command:

    pasuspender -- aplay -D plughw:CARD=broadwellrt286,DEV=0 \
     /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Left.wav

- Fails when booted normally.
- Works when "intel_iommu=off" is specified on kernel command line.

When it fails, these messages appear in dmesg:

intel_catpt INT3438:00: DesignWare DMA Controller, 8 channels
intel_catpt INT3438:00: firmware ready timeout
intel_catpt INT3438:00: boot firmware failed: -110
intel_catpt INT3438:00: ASoC: error at snd_soc_pcm_component_pm_runtime_get on catpt-platform: -22

Thank you for your work maintaining Debian!

Benjamin

Thanks a lot for reporting back that quickly. I will see if someone of
the team gets a clue on where to tackle this issue.

Regards,
Salvatore

I see:

So Linux thinks there is a problem in your firmware. Can you please
provide the complete kernel log from boot? "dmesg" should work or
"journalctl -b 0".

This is an indication that your firmware sets up the iommu wrong, and
older versions of Linux just did not use it. As everything points to
firmware problems, I don't know if we can do much.

Any news here? Otherwise I think we should close the bug with
Bastian's above statement.

Salvatore

Any news here? Otherwise we will go ahead and close it now.
