Dear Maintainer,
After the obsolete removal of hubicfuse package automatically by apt, the kernel boots normally
but while mounting devices, the system reboots.
This rebooting was randomly but occured about 2 times out of 3, or 4
times out of 5 and rarely reboots while working.
The rescue mode from grub work fine almost all the time but not always.
I checked temperature and RAM and disks status that are normal.
My workaround had been to remove the line
hubicfuse /mnt/hubic fuse user,noauto 0 0
from /etc/fstab.
After this workaround, the system seems to be working normally for two
days.
I am not sure that linux-image-6.1.0-0.deb11.9-amd64 is the culprit.
Systemd and udev 252.5-2~bpo11+1 packages was updated at the same time.
Expected: Even a module for a secondary mounting from /etc/fstab is missing, the system
should not reboot but displays or logs a warning.

After two days of fine work, this bug is coming back. The system restarts endless. Choose the maintenance mode, fix it, but the USB mouse does not work. A last restart on normal mode then all works fine. Nothing but a permanent crash of the firewire module is logged. So it is a randomly bug. -- Rpnpif

Ok, I will change a disk as soon as possible to see if it fixes that issue.
In the meantime, I am testing the 6.4 kernel from SID to see if it fix
also this issue.

Hi, I noted 3 things: 1. The kernel 6.4.0-1-amd64 from SID does not fix this issue. 2. The system reboots when it is trying to load the usb drive, I think. The usb mouse and other USB drives do not work at the following succeeded starting, even in the BIOS screen! On the following rebooting, the system works fine and the USB mouse and other USB are enabled again and work fine. 3. This issue appeared after the last updating of udev 252.5-2~bpo11+1, systemd and the kernel 6.1.0-0.deb11.9-amd64. So I do not know which is the culprit. -- Rpnpif

After a lot of tests, I have found the culprit of this instability. If I blacklists the radeon and amdgpu module, all works fine but the display resolution is too low. If I enabled again, as soon as the radeon is loaded, the machine reboots. If I blacklist radeon and manually I modprobe radeon, the machine reboots immediately. I can start the machine with radeon one times of 5 with the normal mode or one times of 2 with the maintenance mode. After a reboot after a crash, the usb mouse does not work, but on the second success, the usb mouse works fine. Restarting the machine after a poweroff does never permit a success boot. firmware-amd-graphics 20230515-3 from SID does not fix this issue. lspci [ grep VGA 00:01.0 VGA compatible controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Hi, Some details. I have never seen this issue starting after displaying the BIOS screen which is graphic with mouse. Then Debian works fine. Linux Mint Live on a USB key works always fine. It is the same, after a session of Linux Mint Live, I reboot the machine then Debian works fine. I think that the Radeon GPU keeps some settings after the BIOS session or the Linux Mint session and work fine until a poweroff. So i think that the module Radeon (or the firmware) has not the good parameters when it is launched directly by Debian. It is a simple guess. modeset=0 works fine but with a very bad resolution not usable. modeset=1 or auto has this bug since some weeks even I launches startx. This settings has been working well for years with Debian Bullseye. What's strange is that the mouse doesn't work on the next startup after the last not wanted reboot. But the next succeeded reboot after a bad, the mouse works fine. It work as some register does not reset on boot but a poweroff. -- Rpnpif

The workaround that I say in my last email does not fix this issue.
After a while, the random and unwanted reboot at starting was back.
I installed the 6.4.0-4-amd64 kernel from SID. The issue was still present.

I removed that rules.
Now I have never seen another unwanted reboot on startup with the
6.4.0-4-amd64 kernel after some startups. But the reboots are still
present with the 6.1.0-0.deb11.11-amd64 kernel from bullseye-backups
repository.
Expected:
Debian should start without unwanted reboots with stable kernel (now
6.1.0-0.deb11.11-amd64) as it works fine now with 6.4.0-4-amd64 from SID.
