#66100 — Bug#949019: firmware-linux-nonfree: Missing firmware for Ice Lake sound card renders it disabled

SubjectBug#949019: firmware-linux-nonfree: Missing firmware for Ice Lake sound card renders it disabled
Message-ID<zp7V0-4vU-3@gated-at.bofh.it>
Package: firmware-linux-nonfree
Version: 20190717-2
Severity: normal

Missing firmware intel/sof/sof-icl.ri makes that the sound card is not
working in kernel 5.5 (only sound output is "dummy", until I plug in an
USB sound card).

Please update the firmware packages with more recent blobs than those of
six months ago :-) recent hardware depends on it.

Dear Maintainer,

This issue is preventing audio working on a 7th generation Lenovo X1
Carbon (released 2019). After boot, no sound output device is
available. The following lines appear in dmesg:

[ 28.941465] sof-audio-pci 0000:00:1f.3: DSP detected with PCI

I've searched on https://packages.debian.org/ and found no packages in
the archive with sof-cnl.ri. On Ubuntu 20.04, I see this file is available in
a package called "linux-firmware"
