| Message-ID | <A9PO9-3Nk-1@gated-at.bofh.it> |
Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.137
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
* What led up to the situation?
New installation of 'testing' while updating initramfs
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
root@snowflake# update-initramfs -u
ln: failed to create hard link '/boot/initrd.img-5.6.0-1-amd64.dpkg-bak' =>
'/boot/initrd.img-5.6.0-1-amd64': Operation not permitted
update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-5.6.0-1-amd64
-
-
-
I: The initramfs will attempt to resume from /dev/sda4
I: (UUID=b6c95418-424c-4e50-b856-c6c9e9ba6f58)
I: Set the RESUME variable to override this.
root@snowflake#
NOTE:
The system seems stable after one or two rebuilds of the initrd.img.
/dev/sda4 is the swap partition.
The system is booting UEFI so according to bits and pieces of info
found here and there
the first partition is a fat/efi partition mounted under /boot/efi
and the 2nd partion is fat32 and mounted under /boot.
This is possibly the cause of this warning.
It might be useful to clarify the thinking about this matter in the doku.
Regards,
Jan de Kruyf.

Hi, Bug cannot be fixed see: https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/Dpkg/FAQ#Q:_What_are_the_filesystem_requirements_by_dpkg.3F In short: Although /boot/efi must be on a vfat partition, /boot cannot be on a vfat partition. It must be on some regular linux partition where it is possible to set symlinks. Good luck to all who will struggle with this! j.
