   * What led up to the situation?

Running normally for 30 days already

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

Did nothing, running as normal. Process glances is running in the screen
session and it's providing data to InfluxDB + Grafana. Process glances may or
may not have it's own bugs, but it should not crash with BUG messages I
experienced

   * What was the outcome of this action?
total glances crash, process had to be restarted by script

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
no crash

Also to add, I am running Debian Buster 10 system with buster-backports
enabled and prioritized, I pinned buster-backports repo in
/etc/apt/preferences so it has 999 points and buster has default 500 points.
I installed glances package from sid repo because it's crashing a lot.
Unfortunately, sid version also crashes a lot. I don't have any trouble
with other packages, it's only glances which is behaving like that.
But this time, it triggered some kernel BUGs, possibly related to Btrfs
or swap, as I read from dmesg logs.

This looks like a page table entry that was supposed to be clear, but
has one bit set.  That caused it to be interpreted as a swap entry, and
because swap offsets are stored inverted on x86 it was decoded to an
offset with all but one bit set.

Such a bit flip could be caused by a software bug, but could equally be
a hardware fault.  It's probably worth doing a RAM test (memtest86+)
and checking that the CPU is properly cooled.

You are using the nvidia proprietary driver, and that could also be to
blame.  Please test whether the issue is reproducible without this
driver.

Hi Ben,

Thanks for your reply. My swap is (was) on USB stick. I added it as I
had something large to crunch and wanted to be sure I have enough
memory. Today I had more errors, server froze solid while waiting for
swap memory to respond (I believe). Not I removed swap memory completely.

All that I believe is because of swap issue, even DNS resolver watchdog
killed its processes and failed to restart them for a minute. Everything
went back to normal after that and server continue to operate without
swap, uptime is 31 days. I've tested RAM extensively with memtest few
months ago and everything was fine.
