Dear Maintainer,

please, update firmware packages to the latest version. It contains firmware
for AMD Navi GPUs, which does not works with current outdated version of
firmware packages.

#67010 — Bug#952710: workaround

In reply to#66425
As workaround it is possible to manually install the firmware to get a navi GPU (Radeon RX 5300, 5500, 5600, 5700) to work by doing this:

sudo apt install git
git clone git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-firmware.git
cd linux-firmware/
sudo cp -va amdgpu/ /lib/firmware/
sudo update-initramfs -u
reboot

Package: firmware-amd-graphics
Version: 20190717-2
Followup-For: Bug #952710

Dear Maintainer,

I can confirm that this is still broken. Without navi10_gpu_info.bin, on an RX 5700 XT,
the modesetting driver does not load, so text mode does not work. Once booted up, virtual
terminals are unavailable and the graphics is not hardware accelerated. If the disks are
encrypted, then booting up is hard because the prompt is not shown. Recovery mode is
impossible without setting nomodeset in grub.

Copying navi10_* from linux-firmware git to /lib/firmware/amdgpu fixes the problem.
