I hope that the following info helps in some small degree.

I first encountered this bug on 20190418 during a routine update.
From the Synaptic update log Details:
desktop-base (version 10.0.0) will be upgraded to version 10.0.2
+ 9 other packages


The most recent failure occurred on: 2019-09-16
Part of the package update was to: update-initramfs: Generating 
/boot/initrd.img-4.19.0-6-amd64
The update failed because:
