I am truly sorry to have genereated some overhead.

I just found out I had an (forgotton) hook installed in 
/etc/initramfs-tools/hooks that had a line like: mkdir <directory> which 
caused an error. I changed my script to use mkdir -p and now everything 
works fine.

Again, sorry for the inconvenience.
