The same problem here with firmware-atheros version 20170823-1~bpo9+1 
and kernel 4.14.0-2-amd64.
It's a dell xps 13 8th gen, with a:
3a:00.0 Network controller: Qualcomm Atheros QCA6174 802.11ac Wireless 
Network Adapter (rev 32)

When that happens I need to deactivate and reactive the wlan, and it 
works again...
