Two years later, Stretch and 4.9.0. This is still true. This laptop's backlight + termal (fan) info is not well supported. (I'm now having recurring CPU overheat/restart) More exactly: k10temp provides temperature inside /sys/class/hwmon/hwmon*/* but /proc/acpi/ibm/fan does not seem to work (with thinkpad_acpi fan_control=1) $ echo level disengaged >> /proc/acpi/ibm/fan is actually written to the kernel, but still can't listen the fan. Given that I now doubt about correct hardware fan control to manage reducing the temperature as it should, I need software fallback. NB: issue about backlight is still true
