Please consider cherry-picking the following commit from the master
branch to fix cross-compilation:

    debian/control: Fix compiler build-dependencies for cross-building

    gcc cross-compilers *do* now have Multi-Arch: foreign, so we have
    to take the :native qualfiication off again.


This appears relevent for sid and stretch's 4.9.x kernels, and it worked
for me. Only conflict was in debian/changelog.
