It's quite useful for debugging and adding support for new devices, though. You can compare it a bit with USB Raw Gadget or HIDRAW (except that we don't want anyone writing user-space drivers against that interface), i.e. it provides a direct channel from user-space to the EC. Setting this option to M provides a module that needs to be loaded in explicitly when someone wants to use it. I've added it to the list because other distros (Ubuntu, Arch) have enabled it.
