Dear maintainer:

During a rebuild of all packages in unstable, this package failed to build.

Below you will find the last part of the build log (probably the most
relevant part, but not necessarily). If required, the full build log
is available here:

https://people.debian.org/~sanvila/build-logs/202511/

About the archive rebuild: The build was made on virtual machines from AWS,
using sbuild and a reduced chroot with only build-essential packages.

If you cannot reproduce the bug please contact me privately, as I
am willing to provide ssh access to a virtual machine where the bug is
fully reproducible.

If this is really a bug in one of the build-depends, please use
reassign and add an affects on src:xrayutilities, so that this is still
visible in the BTS web page for this package.

Thanks.

Hi Dominik. I'm not sure that the lmfit problem is fully fixed by
PR#226.

Trying to make a debian build of the xrayutilities 1.7.12 release,
I'm finding it's still hanging at test_examples.py.

This is with lmfit 1.3.4 and scipy 1.16.3
(scipy 1.1.6 seemed to be making problems with lmfit, which is why we
needed to update lmfit to 1.3.4).

I waited 5 or so minutes before killing the test. Is the powder test
(or other tests in test_examples.py) expected to pass more or less
immediately?

Cheers,
Drew

I think I see the problem. The test does indeed need more than 5
minutes.

The simpack_powdermodel.py example itself does pass. It takes 20
seconds or so.

The problem is that test_example is set up as a megatest looping over
all the examples in the scriptfiles list in the one tests.
There's around 35 of them in the tests, so if each one takes 20
seconds the test will need 20 minutes or so.

This sounds like a good case for using pytest fixtures. Supply the
scriptfiles list as a fixture and the same test will run over each of
the examples one by one, and we can see that the tests are proceeding
successfully.

For the record, the 1.7.12 example tests actually passed in 4 minutes.
Evidentally I killed the test after 3 minutes and thought it felt like
5 minutes.
