I rebooted a few days ago with an old kernel and could not boot, so I suspected an intermittent hardware failure (which might be triggered more often in a newer kernel; or might be just coincidence). I've ordered a pSLC hard drive to replace it (pSLC to hopefully have a better lifetime this time), which will arrive around 3 weeks from now. Until it arrives, I'll keep that computer turned off, just in case that makes it worse. Then, I'll turn it on and do a copy of stuff. When I turn it on, I'll try to investigate if it really is a hardware failure, or a software one. Thanks for your help! Have a lovely night!
