Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal X-Debbugs-Cc: petsc@packages.debian.org, debian-science@lists.debian.org Control: affects -1 + src:petsc User: release.debian.org@packages.debian.org Usertags: transition I'd like to proceed with ABI transitions of the numerical library stack, scotch to petsc. scotch 7.0 → 7.0c (same ABI but soname renamed by switch to cmake) superlu-dist 8 → 9 (finally fixed) hypre 2.32.0 → 2.33.0 mumps 5.7 → 5.8 petsc 3.22 → 3.24 (with slepc) 64-bit support is reconfigured for scotch, and scotch cmake config files are now generated. hypre 3 has actually been released, but the major version bump warns me it probably has an API change, so let's deal with that later. Likewise fenics (dolfinx) 0.10 is ready (and built successfully in experimental) but also with minor API changes, so I plan to update it after this transition (after the other libraries are migrated to testing) to give it a stable base to build against. sundials needs updating, but I'm leaving that to other team members. My library chain here does not use it directly. Similarly suitesparse could be updated but I'm not sure it needs transition, I'll leave it to Sébastien Villemot. Selected reverse dependencies have been tested with good builds. openmpi/mpich/pmix are recently fixed and migrated to testing, so in that sense now is a good time to transition these MPI client libraries auto-transitions are ready: https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-scotch.html https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-superlu-dist.html https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-hypre.html https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-mumps.html https://release.debian.org/transitions/html/auto-petsc.html Ben file: title = "petsc"; is_affected = .depends ~ "libpetsc-real3.22" | .depends ~ "libpetsc-real3.24"; is_good = .depends ~ "libpetsc-real3.24"; is_bad = .depends ~ "libpetsc-real3.22";

Thanks. scotch is uploaded now, I'll work down the list once each reaches the unstable archive. Drew

Upstream is looking into it. Push come to shove we can skip the failing test if necessary. opm-grid/opm-simulators is being worked on, Bug#1121356 > https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/petsc sundials. This I don't understand. sundials is rebuilt successfully, 7.1.1+dfsg1-10+b1 But the petsc migration test with sundials tests the old version, 7.1.1+dfsg1-10 not 7.1.1+dfsg1-10+b1 So of course it fails. Why isn't it testing sundials 7.1.1+dfsg1-10+b1? feenox. Bug#1121362. The problem is a clash between gmsh and opencascade, Bug#1118271, blocked by freecad failure. petsc will be freed if feenox is removed from testing and sundials tests using 7.1.1+dfsg1-10+b1 > https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/fenics-dolfinx adios4dolfinx migration tests. Looks like a transient failure not related to the transition, it previously passed. adios4dolfinx test_checkpointing.py appears to be a little flaky, not sure how best to manage it (short of skipping altogether). Raised upstream https://github.com/jorgensd/adios4dolfinx/issues/147 dolfinx-mpc. Similar to the sundials petsc problem. Rebuilt successfully 0.9.3-2+b2, but the dolfinx migration test tests dolfinx-mpc 0.9.3-2+b1 not 0.9.3-2+b2. What's the point of the binNMU if it's not being used for transition migration? Drew

Thanks Paul. scotch is now fixed (7.0.10-6), so after your manual tests we should be able to complete this transition. Drew

Package: release.debian.org Followup-For: Bug #1121012 With scotch 7.0.10-6 fixing metis compatibility links, and Paul's manual activation testing binNMU libraries, all packages for this transition are now migrated to testing. So we can consider this transition complete. Towards the weekend I'd like to continue on with the fenicsx 0.10 transition (fenics-dolfinx and company), if there's no objections. Collectively the fenics suite is a leaf node, so we don't need to consider it a formal transition as such. Drew
