Roland Clobus <rclobus@rclobus.nl> (2025-06-15): > I've fetched (with dget) both the 1.37.0-5 and 1.37.0-6 packages. Using > diffoscope I can confirm that the only change between these versions is in > the file 'debian/config/pkg/udeb'. So for users of busybox outside the scope > of udebs, there is no change at all. I'm really not worried about the source debdiff. The fact we've had a new upload, and new builds, with possibly other packages getting updated, is why I err on the side of caution. (That being said, a diffoscope on say the amd64 binaries is really clean. See libdatrie1 for a prime example of a one-line Makefile debdiff's leading to less obvious changes on the binary side.) > So the change between 5 and 6 is a targeted fix, which makes it > suitable for an unblock request. I don't think that was ever in doubt? I was trying to communicate “please go through the motions of a proper unblock request, I'm not taking responsibility for hinting this on my own”. Hi all, I'm not sure if this is the right place to report this or if I should have created a completely new bug report. Stable is also affected by this bug. I'm downloading a post install script via https from my preseed file, and this does not longer work on stable - while it still does work on oldstable. I just tested this a few minutes ago: Jun 23 12:13:15 log-output: wget: not an http or ftp url: https://<redacted>/host/post_install.sh The wget binary from wget-udeb is also replaced by the symlink from busybox-udeb. This is probably related to the update from busybox-udeb 1:1.35.0-4+b3 amd64 to busybox-udeb 1:1.35.0-4+b4 amd64 that happened on 2025-05-12 - according to the timestamps of the shown here: https://deb.debian.org/debian/dists/bookworm/main/installer-amd64/ It would be great if this could be fixed as well. Hi, Roland Schwarzkopf <rschwarzkopf@mathematik.uni-marburg.de> (2025-06-23): > I'm not sure if this is the right place to report this or if I should > have created a completely new bug report. This is the same bug, except for another version, so that can be tracked with the same report (via appropriate found/fixed metadata). > Stable is also affected by this bug. If it were a theoretical problem, I wouldn't be too concerned about it, but seeing how busybox indeed receives rebuilds (or updates) in stable, getting the bugfix in there as well would look like a good idea to me. Maybe it can be batched together with security fixes?
