I wanted to avoid getting stuck with maintaining a fork of a non-final
1.19.x version for the lifetime of trixie. But maybe maintaining 1.18.x
(with Autotools) would be even worse, so... I'll think about it.

I asked Georges now and he says he will try to get the next xdg-desktop-portal stable release done by GNOME 48 RC so that's approximately March 1. I believe xdg-desktop-portal-gnome 48.beta doesn't really have the hard dependency on x-d-p 1.19; that will be in a 48.beta.2 (or similar numbering), so I believe this doesn't interfere with packaging GNOME 48 Beta, but GNOME 48 RC which isn't out until around March 1 or so.
