Control: retitle -1 npth: New upstream releases (1.7, 2024-02-23; 1.8, 2024-11-12) thanks Hello again, On Wed, Sep 04, 2024 at 02:07:18PM +0200, Florian Ernst wrote: > there has been a new release of npth, cf. <https://dev.gnupg.org/T7010>. nPth 1.8 has been released, cf. <https://dev.gnupg.org/T7387>: | * Fix npth_cond_signal and npth_cond_broadcast on Windows. [T7386] | * New function npth_get_version. New macros NPTH_VERSION and | NPTH_VERSION_NUMBER. | * Fix INSERT_EXPOSE_RWLOCK_API for musl C library. [T5664] | * Add fallback implementation for POSIX semaphore API on macOS. [T7057] | * Return a run-time error if npth_rwlock_timedrdlock is not supported. | [T7109] However, it seems that the package has seen its last maintainer update over four years ago. Is there perhaps some way I could help? I could try packaging the new releases, for instance. Or did I just miss some activity? Adding an explicit CC for clarification. Also CC'ing upstream / fellow DD NIIBE Yutaka, as perhaps there are any further plans on their side. <https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel/2024/11/msg00232.html> actually reminded me to check on this bug here. Cheers, Flo

In February 2024, 1.7 was released. And then, 1.8 was released in November 2024. The changes in 1.7 and 1.8 are mainly for Windows and other operating systems. So, for Debian GNU/Linux itself, it would be OK that we still keep using version 1.6. Nevertheless, on Debian, we have the libnpth-mingw-w64-dev package, for installer on Windows (which uses gpgv.exe). For this (minor) case, it would be good to have newer version. Well, the release keys of GnuPG team have been updated. For this, I created a merge request for nPth package on Salsa. If needed, I will help packaging nPth for Debian. Please feel free for ask any help. --
