Message-ID<GSBLz-V2V-1@gated-at.bofh.it>
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Dear ftp and release team,

please remove https-everywhere from stable. This addon for Firefox and
Chromium has become obsolete because major browsers offer native
support for HTTPS only mode now.

https://www.eff.org/https-everywhere/set-https-default-your-browser

See https://bugs.debian.org/1041335

Since there is no need for it anymore and development has stopped, it
is safe to remove it from Bookworm.

Regards,

Markus

Not quite - it has an r-dep:

Checking reverse dependencies...
# Broken Depends:
debian-parl: parl-desktop

Perhaps we should change the reportbug template for ftp.debian.org because a
stable removal bug report is a valid choice there.

Whoops. I've just filed https://bugs.debian.org/1041350

I guess Jonas won't object against the removal. I get back to you as soon as
possible.

Markus

I have uploaded a new revision of boxer-data and debian-parl to Bookworm now.
This update removes the dependency on webext-https-everywhere. Jonas agreed to
this change.

https://bugs.debian.org/1041350

AFAIK nothing else should prevent the removal of https-everywhere from
Bookworm.

Markus

Thanks. Untagging so this gets back on the radar for 12.2.

Adam
