I intend to adopt the package. It seems like the next step for the
package is to update it to the latest release (32) from May 2022.

Have you tried doing that upgrade or is there any peculiar reason why
we're at a git snapshot still?

From a technical perspective there is no reason to stay on the git snapshot
version. Salsa repo https://salsa.debian.org/emacsen-team/flycheck is already
updated to latest flycheck release 32.  But I did not manage to find a sponsor
to upload it. That's one part of the problem. Another part of it: people
ignore the salsa repo and prefer to stick to git snapshot (for whatever
reason), see recent versions 32~git.20200527.9c435db3-3 and
32~git.20200527.9c435db3-4. Hopefully you will have more luck to sort the
things out.

Oh. Weird. Looks like the team didn't do its job then, that's
unfortunate.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll make sure to include your good work!

As an aside, do you have any thoughts on flymake in recent Emacs
releases? Is flycheck still relevant?
