#1135419 — Bug#1029977: libncurses-dev: drop ncurses{w,}5-config symlinks

SubjectBug#1029977: libncurses-dev: drop ncurses{w,}5-config symlinks
Message-ID<FTlnz-221E-1@gated-at.bofh.it>
Package: libncurses-dev
Version: 6.4-2
Severity: wishlist

For the transition from libncurses5 to libncurses6, I made this change:

,----
| ncurses (6.1+20180210-2) unstable; urgency=medium
|
| * Temporarily add ncurses{w,}5-config compatibility symlinks.
|
| -- Sven Joachim <svenjoac@gmx.de> Thu, 26 Apr 2018 18:07:30 +0200
`----

This certainly made sense at the time to prevent avoidable FTBFS
problems during the transition, but I really should have removed these
"temporary" compatibility symlinks after the Buster release. By now
everybody should have switched to ncurses{w,}6-config or to pkg-config,
but it seems there are still a few stragglers.

Anyway, I intend to finally remove the ncurses{w,}5-config symlinks
after the Bookworm release. AFAIK nobody else ships them.

Three of my own bug reports from six years ago are still unfixed:
#850735, #851238 and #851594. None of the affected packages has seen a
maintainer upload since then, and autoremoval from testing does not seem
to be the worst idea if nobody steps up to salvage them.

There are quite a few other hits on codesearch.debian.net, but
apparently the other packages look all for ncurses{w,}6-config in
addition to ncurses{w,}5-config, or they use pkg-config.
