Message-ID<FGHOV-deHU-1@gated-at.bofh.it>
Package: vim-runtime
Version: 2:9.0.0813-1
Severity: wishlist

Hello!
Do I understand correctly that there's no syntax highlighting or indentation
support for the [Nim] programming language in package vim-runtime?

[Nim]: <https://nim-lang.org/>

I think it would be a useful addition, perhaps taken from [nim.vim]...

[nim.vim]: <https://github.com/zah/nim.vim>

Please add the relevant files to package vim-runtime and/or forward
my wishlist bug report upstream, as appropriate.

Thanks for your time, bye (and Season's Greetings!).

The filetype itself is detected, but no one has added the other support.

Then zah needs to be convinced to send the files upstream to vim, since
they will be the one that needs to respond to bugs or feature requests,
as well as sending updates to Bram.

That's not something that I would add specifically to the Debian
packaging.

Yeah, it makes sense.

That's understandable.
Is there an alternative strategy to have that support in Debian?

Maybe [nim.vim] could be packaged as a Vim addon, as documented in the
Debian Packaging [Policy for Vim]. Is this possible?

[Policy for Vim]: <https://vim-team.pages.debian.net/vim/>

Yes, if someone wanted to create a new package for the files in that
repo, they could do that and package it as an addon.

OK, thanks for confirming.
I have just filed a RFP bug [#1027431] for nim.vim...

[#1027431]: <https://bugs.debian.org/1027431>

Bye.
