I've tried to test src:pytest-mpi from experimental, using
src:python-sybil from experimental.

With or without spaces in the pin line, the test fails to launch,
with error message "Target Sources (main/source/Sources) is configured
multiple times":

Well, no.  I even copied&pasted the lines you've given here, it's still 
failing to work, in the same way.
Is it some kind of permissions configuration error, if it works for you 
and not for me?

--add-apt-release=experimental is added twice to the autopkgtest
command line, and this generates warnings like

This is something that we need to fix, but doesn't the job work even
with those warnings?

No, it gets marked as "tmpfail" and does not proceed.
