SubjectBug#964389: bsdmainutils: leftover config files
Message-ID<ApBxv-5XU-5@gated-at.bofh.it>
Package: bsdmainutils
Version: 12.1.3

Hi Michael,

It appears there is some gap in the necessary cleanups in
bsdmainutils. My "unstable" system has these files listed as owned
by bsdmainutils:

# dpkg -L bsdmainutils
/.
/usr
/usr/share
/usr/share/doc
/usr/share/doc/bsdmainutils
/usr/share/doc/bsdmainutils/NEWS.Debian.gz
/usr/share/doc/bsdmainutils/changelog.gz
/usr/share/doc/bsdmainutils/copyright
/etc/default/bsdmainutils
/etc/cron.daily/bsdmainutils

Note the /etc/default and /etc/cron.daily files.

I'm unsure how this has happened, but maybe you can review the
preinst(?) scripts.

Thanks,
Chris

Gheez, I should have done a hard dependency from the get go. I guess this comes
from one update that didn't bring in calendar. Anyway, could you please verify
for me that there are no config files in your calendar package?

Thanks,

Michael

Here's some info, I hope its useful:

% dpkg -L bsdmainutils | grep etc
/etc/default/bsdmainutils
/etc/cron.daily/bsdmainutils
% cat /etc/default/bsdmainutils
cat: /etc/default/bsdmainutils: No such file or directory
% cat /etc/cron.daily/bsdmainutils
cat: /etc/cron.daily/bsdmainutils: No such file or directory

% dpkg -L calendar | grep etc
/etc
/etc/calendar
/etc/calendar/default
/etc/cron.daily
/etc/cron.daily/calendar
/etc/default
/etc/default/calendar
% cat /etc/calendar/default
/* This is the system-wide default calendar file, used if calendar(1)
 * is invoked by a user without a ~/calendar or ~/.calendar/calendar file.
 * It may be edited or even deleted to reflect local policy.
 *
 * In the standard setup, we simply include the default calendar
 * definitions from /usr/share/calendar/calendar.all. If you want
 * only some of those definitions, copy calendar.all to /etc/calendar
 * and edit it there. That way, your changes will be kept next time
 * you upgrade.
 *
 * The search path for include files is:
 *   /etc/calendar
 *   /usr/share/calendar
 */
#include "calendar.all"
% cat /etc/cron.daily/calendar

[ -x /usr/sbin/sendmail ] || exit 0

/usr/bin/calendar -a
% cat /etc/default/calendar
