| Subject | The rebirth of a simple 42 microcode assembler after 30 plus years. |
| From | Gavin Crate <gavincrate42@yahoo.co.uk> |
Hello all, Some months ago David May published some documentation describing the Inmos 16-bit simple 42 prototype Transputer (documents are located here: http://www.cs.bris.ac.uk/~dave/transputer.html). Included in the data was the instruction microcode (or vbc) for the simple 42. It was a complete listing (well as best as I could work out at the time). Anyway, I thought it would be fun to write a simple 42 microcode assembler (otherwise known as 'vbc reader' to ex-Inmos employees) and see if I could assemble the simple 42 microcode available on Dave's website. Now available on my website (see link below) is a simple 42 microcode assembler tool (win32 console application) which can generate a ROM output file (in C header style) using the simple 42 vbc microcode. Have fun! https://sites.google.com/site/transputeremulator/Home/inmos-s42 Regards Gavin
