This week belongs to the Recreated ZX Spectrum.
As I posted the other day, the main batch has arrived from China and the Apps will be released this week.
Here is an 18 minute YouTube video which explains it all.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6DffI0SqjhU

It is good to see that they are working on an App for Connected TV which means you only need a TV and the keyboard.

Actually in true Sinclair tradition there has been a slight delay. IOS App is approved but queued for launch.
Apart from Beta testers, a few were sent out in error so there have been some un boxing videos on Facebook and Twitter.

Launch proper has been put back to second week in September

its a little noisy. So does this look like a rubber keyed spectrum, or a
Plus?
 Obviously I cannot see it.
I also presume that the screen on, say a PC is just a graphics emulation is
it, so no chance of using a screenreader at all. Pity they did not emulate
the Currah uSpeech.
What are the sound capabilities, just beep sound or more?

This is purely a Bluetooth keyboard that has 40 rubber keys just like the original ZX Spectrum.
There is no basic inside or sound capabilities and the ability to program in BASIC and play games depends solely on the devices that you interface it with.
Eg. IPad, iPhone, Android tablet or PC via a website.
They are also working on an App for Smart TV which I find promising.
Third party developers are encouraged to adapt emulators and Applications for the device.
There are two modes
Normal mode which works like any other Bluetooth keyboard and which a Scottish politician used to write his newspaper column with yesterday and
Games mode in which the keys send out codes for presses and releases for skill games involving jumping etc.
I don't have one and have never seen one.
They are made by Accuratus who make many models of Bluetooth and wireless keyboards.
I will probably buy one as I am downsizing and it has some nice possibilities.
I'm not sure of any appeal to new programmers teaching single key programming in this day and age.
It's the sort of thing parents of a certain age will buy for their children.

No screen readers but it is all new.

Just a keyboard, Brian

Yes, but as we both know, emulations, which are assumedly in the apps, can
have all sorts of clever bits in them.

So is it rubber or plus?

Well, if its still a membrane, it may well suffer the old split problem
where half a row dies after too much Daley Thompson!

There are three improvements to the usual membrane setup that should improve reliability.

1) The keyboard uses scissor switches which are two plastic levers fixed like scissors to improve feel and durability.

2) Photos in Update #47 show a bed for the keyboard with lots of locators and what appears to be a single tunnel for the connecting cord.

3) There are no hot components anywhere and it is usually the membrane tail resting on the hot ULA that makes my membranes become brittle and fail.

I think it has appeal as a general purpose input device for TV boxes. A Plus version could have a mousepad on the reverse (as some keyboards have).

A fuller explanation is contained in Update 62
And things should start to move on Monday.
The android apps will bring up the rear towards the end of the month.
