How much (approximate) is the actual price for this unit? Can't find this anywhere. How many units where produced?

Thanks,

neither BBC BASIC (which did originally have support for a coprocessor) nor CPM will use this as a second processor? in fact neither the pds nor the micro command speech could also be used in this way though obviously thanks to a lack of DMA in the serial port the other two might be a tad faster if they could communicate with the other main CPU

Hardly surprising -- AFAIK DMA only did stuff for the Amiga. :-) Most notably Lemmings, of course; and they're now Rockstar North anyway...

DMA as in Direct Memory Access not the software company its a chip an IC that complements the z80 - is that slightly less trolly eggnchips n e 1

Sorry that you've got several answers from this newsgroup's current troll (none of which have the least bearing on your question, of course); maybe someone will soon give you a sensible answer...

Nobody knows. It was sold by Timex in Portugal, Zebra in the US and
Unipolbrit in Poland. Also there were two interfaces, one that included
the disk drives (3" like the +3 if memory serves) and one that was just
the interface. Although really it was a computer in its own right with
its own Z80, rather than a simple interface.

pity the cpm and the BBC Basic for CPM didn't realise that there were actually two processors one in it and one in the timex - be nice to see romods for zx spectrum and even sam coupe ...
