Hey everyone!

I'm currently working on a simple ZX Spectrum character creator web app.

You can check it out here:

http://www.amelyn.com/speccy_character_builder/index.htm

Send any feedback/feature suggestions to bigbadmick2000@hotmail.com

Cheers!

Hey guys.

I've added a bunch of new features to the app over the past two days.

Here are my next two ideas. As ever, feedback is appreciated.

I'm thinking that the next two features to implement should be:

1. 4 x 5 udg layout, like Karingal's 3 x 7, except I'm thinking possibly a 4 x 5 plus another one at the bottom might give the user more leeway for designing a big chunky Rafa Cecco style big fat sprite.

2. A ZX Spectrum sprite archive.
   On the web app page:
   (1) a textarea for the user to enter his/her email address
   (2) a textarea for the user to write a short description of the sprite (up to 1000 characters?)
   (3) a button for the user to submit his/her graphic to the ZX Spectrum Sprite archive.
I'm thinking something like this could be a good resource for future ZX Spectrum game developers to source sprites to incorporate into future games they develop.

What do you think?

Reply in this thread or at bigbadmick2000@hotmail.com

P.S. I'm thinking, if spec-chums upload sprites this way, I could write code so that the sprites could be downloaded in a bunch of different formats e.g. JSON, CSV, DATA statements, +3 BASIC statements, whatever formats you guys describe as useful.
This would probably faciliate future speccy game development. Even if it only helps people develop games for the comp.sys.sinclair crap game competition, I think it would still be a worthwhile endeavour. :D

Let me know what you think.

By the way, that's Karingal off World of Spectrum forums.
If you'd like to check out his 1984 Spectrum Character Designer, which has become a partial influence on the design of this web app as we've discussed it on World of Spectrum forums, check out this thread:

Nicely done, very easy to use, and the data output is a great thing too.
