Just to announce that the 2013 CGC is OPEN!

And for the duration of the year it will live at:

www.csscgc2013.blogspot.co.uk/

(You may find this hard to believe but I'm not a professional web designer).

Please email your crap games to:

cgc2013@rocketmail.com

Hopefully all the information can be gleaned from the competition site.

I hope this doesn't prove controversial but I've introduced immunity from hosting the competition if you really really don't want to (if you 'lose'). This is because a lot of people have commented that they have not entered for this very reason - and a lot of crap is missed out as a result. It does rely of course on general goodwill, and not everyone asking for it.

If there's anything else please feel free to ask, here or via the email address cgc2013@rocketmail.com.

Many thanks and get busy my fellow crapateers! I look forward to reviewing your games, and rest assured they will be thoroughly tested on real hardware (where possible) and emulator.

Dave

Now we're up to 3 entries!

A review of Kick the ballboy is up, and more will follow over the next days.

www.cgc2013.blogspot.com

Please let me know if you have any problems with downloading the file.

I've done a bit of thinking about the prizes, most likely it will involve various bespoke certificates (which I can send a card copy of or just an ecopy whichever is preferred) and all the games put on a cassette.

I'll do a Cassette50 style inlay which is a mashup of the games we get over the year.

This means of course only ZX Spectrum games go on the cassette. So if you can do your entry on the Spectrum it would be best, but games from other platforms are still welcome in the competition

The Cassette will be called the CassetteX, where X is the number of games we get over the year. Looking at previous years somewhere between 20 and 30 would be nice, so thinking caps on please!

Now, 2 more games to look at. Where's my pills?

Hello, I'm looking for a pixel artist to make me a couple of loading screens for two entries please. Email me at shaun . bebbington @ metapps . co . uk and I'll discuss my ideas.

I know what you're thinking "but it's for a crap gaming compo entry", well, if you contact me, you'll get the joke that I'm trying to do.

Of course, you'll take full credit for the work unless you don't want to be associated with a CSSCGC entry (in which case, choose a suitable pseudonym).

Regards,

Shaun.

Ok now the 2013 CSS Crap Games Comp is underway we have a few new entires, all worth a look I'd say:

www.csscgc2013.blogspot.com

An update, the idea is that entries will be collected over the year and go on a compilation, the Cassette X (X= number of entries).

If I get my finger out I may also do an old school digest about the 2013 Crap Gaming Year (mainly the game reviews but plus anything else I think of) to be released at the end of the year online with a small number of hard copies.

Hope to see more crap games from you guys soon.

I recently received a type in believe it or not!

btw, I've finally updated the Crap Game Finder
(http://www.yoursinclair.co.uk/csscgc) so it contains all entries up
to the end of last year's compo, thanks to some easily-parseable
filenames in 2011 and an easily-parseable results.txt file in 2012.
There's info missing, but the majority is there and it's a vast
improvement on how it was two days ago!

Chris

We've had a type in submission.

Details as the CSS CGC site.

www.csscgc2013.blogspot.com

Anyone who actually does the type in gets some kind of trooper trophy at the end of the year (probably a virtual trophy or something in the CGC end of year digest).

Thanks.

The game has a bug in it (only happens occasionally) - find it and fix it :-)

Shaun.

Don't some emulators have printing support? He could have LLIST'd it
to a PDF, which would be the next best thing.

GOOD GAME ALERT!

Some decent software has infiltrate the CGC:

Larry the Lander by Jammajup is now on the site.

It is authored with S.E.U.D and is well worth a look.

There are also some high quality BASIC games on the way too..

Boggles the mind why they bother... it's a CRAP games competition.
Why are they so eager to lose dismally that they'll put real effort into a
game? Why can't they just enter them into their own GOOD games competitions?

:)

It would have been slated I think, if released as a pure 'good' entry elsewhere though. I know the author is working on a more polished side scrolling shooter for proper release.

(...and from my point of view it's a nice palette cleanser after all those bloody Maths games!)

Because, in case you hadn't noticed, the CSSCGC has been hijacked by WOS
and really has nothing to do with the competition we used to know and
love. When was the last time anyone who normally posts here was a host?

2009 when I hosted it?

The reason it's so dominated by WoS members is that people on WoS write
games and enter the compo rather than sitting around grumbling about how
it's not like the good old days :p

Then frankly a spade should be called a spade.

Nostalgia is overrated. I just think it's a shame that CSSCGC has almost
nothing to do with CSS any more.

What would WoS be without CSS...

Of course, I shouldn't point a finger to WoS. Did they?

So you'd prefer that the compo just died off because no-one enters
anymore instead?

I'd prefer to call a spade a spade.
