I felt a tremor in the force. At first I thought it was the Smart Price
beans I'd munched before realising they were out of date by 3 years, but
no - it was the invoking of CSS magic (What ARE you dribbling about?? Ed).

If you're mucking about with screens you can't beat Klaus Jahn's ZX modules:

http://www.zxmodules.de

Covers everything from standard screens through to HAM256 with 8x1
attributes.

And before anyone says ULAplus is just for emulators how'd you like to
see an issue 2 Spectrum displaying a 256 colour image?

Hi Andrew!

Would you like to give me some information to the hardware I can see on
the picture? Especially the keyboard interface and the YUV-RGB
converter.

Not my machine but broadly speaking:

Issue 2 Spectrum. The daughterboard you can see mounted on the
motherboard is ULAplus implemented in FPGA (including a virtual AY
chip). On the edge connector is a Spectranet (for loading as audio
loading is unfinished). Behind that is a Spanish-made PS/2 keyboard
interface but I have no idea which one. I'm assuming the big XLINIX box
is hooked to the FPGA via JTAG leads (but I'm not a hardware guy). And I
believe the lines coming off the thing are component video. When I
finally get to meet Miguel I'll ask him to explain it all to me and then
I'll relate it here, but that will probably be at next year's RetroMadrid.

Cool

Hmmm, who needs audio-loading when having an EAR jack to the speccy
mainboard...?
Are there any issues to the tape-loading routine and its hardware, of
which I have never heard what ;-)
One of the best things of the speccy in that times of Homecomputers, is
the tape-thing.

You care to ask someone or may I have an adress from you, where I can
try to ask someone myself?
It's a long time until next year's RetroMadrid (maybe I'll be there,
because I never been to Spain yet and it would be a convenient point in
time to do so), because my plans to recreate a nice keyboard-IF are
overdue :(

I would rip off the PC, Mac, unix etc. connections to the speccy, even
when it's USB.
An autark system should do the trick. For H.264 and H.265 videos, you
need a faster CPU (system), however....

Why feeling like the 4th wheel on the cart? (hint: Sinclair C5 ed.)

Composite-video is nice compared to the std. component-video of the
speccy. But that can wait, until ULAplus (with RGB-out IF) is out.

I am staying tuned...

er, the EAR jack is the audio loading.

As Guesser says, the EAR jack *is* the audio loading. The signal is
handled by the ULA so until ULAplus audio loading works, the EAR jack is
useless.

I'll ask Miguel.
