Hi.

Gab Amore and I, Simon Ferré are proud to announce the official opening of the 2016 competition. Our website is available here:

https://sites.google.com/site/csscgc2016/

The site is currently a work in progress, so please report any problems and we might just leave them in to be awkward :-)

Good luck!

Gab & Simon

I had a great idea for a crap game of boring proportions, but these days do
not have the means or ability to write it.. or the time!
Its called the Great Fusion race.
You have to solve problems in producing a fusion reactor that generates
more power than it uses in a stable way and a means of generating power from
it without blowing up the local area, or indeed destroying the device.
You would need to be a nuclear expert of course and so this might make it
almost impossible to play!

Just a note for those who may be interested, the former CSSCGC Wikipedia article has now been migrated to the Sinclair FAQ wiki at http://faqwiki.zxnet.co.uk/wiki/Comp.sys.sinclair_Crap_Games_Competition

Probably ought to change the bit about stuff being archived on the WoS
FTP since that no longer exists :)

Yep, I'll revisit the page at next opportunity (hopefully sometime over the next few days) with a view to updating it. It is woefully out of date as things stand.

Now updated with web links to the archive zipfiles (up to 2012), the 2015 results and link to the 2016 site.

I have all the archives here:
http://www.yoursinclair.co.uk/csscgc/archives/

Looks like I put them there at some point when I realised they were no
longer being uploaded to WOS, and then promptly forgot. I've just
added the 2015 archive, so it's complete now!

Thanks Chris,

After learning WoS was only hosting archives up to 2012, it's excellent to read that an up-to-date archive is still being maintained! I have now updated the wiki page accordingly.

Civilisations may rise and fall, but there will always be the CSSCGC archives, in a similar vein to the Svalbard global seed vault.

Well, ideally they should be on some sort of fault tolerant
distributed FTP, but it'll do for now.

'Course, in the event of a meteor strike and/or zombie apocalypse, that
won't be enough. We really need to carve the binary representations of
the entire archive (and the Speccy ROM) into granite tablets and bury
them in a bombproof vault in the Arizona desert, so that the sentient
cockroach people of a million years hence will be able to experience
the wonder of Crap Games.

(The wonder being, “What the hell were those vertebrate idiots
thinking? No wonder they couldn't survive a little meteor strike. And
stop eating your dinner without vomiting on it, Splarg. It's
disgusting.”)

I do so hope he's still around, as it has been rather a while since I have been uploading, and I do explain why in this review:

I've just spend a week in not so sunny Birmingham and am back to continue wading through the backlog of games that are awaiting in the queue. It should be a case of first in, first out, so they should appear in roughly the order of being received, if I've got the list correct.

Keep those submissions flowing, it's looking like this year is the best so far in terms of submissions received.

Hey guys.

I'm currently working on an online speccy character creator. It might be useful for anyone wanting to design custom udgs for their Crap Game.

You can find it here:

It's not bad. Spent half an hour just simply playing about on it.
