#3495 — WoS forums are giving me error Aaargh

Today, trying to access the WoS forums has taken me right back to the days of the dreaded R -- Tape loading terror. All attempts to access anything are resulting in a "Database error" screen (not a 403 or 404).

Is anyone else getting this? Is anyone on to it?

I'll see if anybody is available to assist.  Whilst you are waiting,
please help yourself to complimentary crisps and Rolos.  Oh, and if

As the old 1960s-1970s saying says "never underestimate the bandwith of 
a station wagon full of DECTapes" it's more probable that the best 
paragon is the Channel Tunnel :D

seriously, There's subtle and not-so-subtle difference between servers's 
hardware and systems.... so that some snags happens must be expected.

BTW, currently (just tested) works fine for me.

WoS itself is fine, it's just the forums that are b0rked. The powers that be are aware of the problem.

I have today tried to look at the Thunderbirds (Firebird Silver) maps
on The Tipshop, because I can't remember if I submitted my map for
that game, and I am now being asked for my WoS FTP username and
password.  Is this a glitch, or a new anti-abuse policy of which I
wasn't aware?  Either way, it's a problem, because my WoS forums
username/password doesn't work for FTP and I can't find any
registration option.

Nope, there is no ftp server for the archive any more. As far as I 
understand that login is foggy's ftp for uploading things to the server. 
Surprised he hasn't moved it to another port or something really.
For some of the links into the archive you can replace the ftp://ftp. 
with http:// in the url. Doesn't seem to work for everything yet not 
sure quite why.

I'm sure lee will get around to fixing the links in all the pages and 
scripts eventually.
