advantage of miniaturisation and was made to look like a pair of trousers.

Sadly I doubt the Murdoch empire (News Corp, parent company of Amstrad) 
has any interest in the Spectrum. I'm not convinced they'd even be 
interested in licensing the ROM to a third-party. The cost of short run 
clones makes them rather expensive compared to a Raspberry Pi. I hope 
that someone will eventually offer something akin to the kit-form ZX81, 
but I'm not holding my breath.
