Yep. He was always the “opposition”, as far as I was concerned as a
Sinclair, then Amiga, fan, but it was always obvious that he knew what
he was about. “His” Commodore produced some great stuff: the
calculators, the PET, the C64. After he left, the company lost the
plot, the best example of which being the C65 project: sinking money
into a successor to the C64, when they already had one in the A500.
Crazy.

The ST wasn't, maybe, technically on a par with the Amiga, but Tramiel's
Atari made the most of it, no question about that. In some ways, it
probably ended up better-known than its rival.

We had an ATARI VCS in 1978. After that, me and my brother (6y older),
dreamt about a 800XL system (w floppy); about 20,000 Schilling at that
times ~700 pounds sterling.
1983, our father decided to choose the 'Spectrum 48K with 8 Cassettes
Package' (Night Flight, Pssst, Cookie, Chess, Backgammon, Jet Pac,
Reversi, Chequered Flags), which has been sold in our store. That's how
it was...

I think AMIGA is still my secret favourite. Any.... (probably A2000, w
switchable Turbo-Card 68000/68060 and Picasso II)

The ST is still IMHO a cheap, easy to use and "pretty stable" MIDI
interface. (if not the best computer MIDI System... yet)

I also like his siblings. old Mafia-Boss was not bad :-), maybe he
looked like (i could confirm ;-)).
However, he enriched the scene...... (not to mention the 130XE and GX
opportunity, which was IMHO mostly dedicated to the 400/800/XL
community. ST and AMIGA were already in store...)
