I'd usually call it a shovel. Or a Manual Digging Device.

I call it a manually actuated earth excavation implement.

Any better talk-back circuit (e.g. domestic intercom) is having a
faster CPU and better GfX than the old Speccy, whom do you call 'good

Well, I had the first chance this year, but passed it up because I've
already hosted it once.

I don't mind a technically crappy but playable game, of course; Cassette
50 had a few. But I do wonder about the occasional CGC entry that is
actually polished and sensible. I suppose it is (or was) one way to get
more eyeballs than you might by quietly submitting it to WoS.

I admit that I submitted all those utilities to the compo for the free
advertising. It was cheaper than the Rolo tax.

What's Rolo Tax? I remember sending Rolos to the winner when I ran it. Actually, they may have been jumbo Rolos. Ah, CSS, it's been too long. :)

The plug tax. It's not a tax ON rolos, it's a tax that includes a packet of
rolos as part of the payment. 75p and a packet of rolos is the traditional
rate, though some people attempted a tax increase a while back.

Waaaaait a minute? So each entry to the CSS is traditionally accompanied by a CASH GRATUITY *AND* ROLOS?! Man alive, I've gotta run the compo again some time.

That's certainly my plan ;)

My game is 100% machine code, with multiple sprites and a fast paced AY

It'd damned well better be so unplayable (army moves) as to be useless, or
have some bug (jetset willy attic bug) that makes it unfinishable then.
