after watching some amateur astronomy field trip, mid-80s, I consider 
the Spectrum with a 5" CRT monitor and a (slight hacked) walkman a fully 
portable system... and an useful one. (in the pre-GPS days, having to be 
not much far from what equates Ordnance survey's marking stones/plates 
or similiar reference... the speccy has considerably reduced the 
scope-laying time (and, as a former PCI cadre, the little satisfaction 
of having introduced IT to rural Southern Italy people (whose, trust me, 
even mid-80s, can be rightly termed "peasants"...)
