The French +2 had all of the composite video generation hardware and modulator can omitted, and the RGB socket wired up in the Peritel settings. It also had a French language ROM. The keyboard however was a standard English one, with English key legends unlike the Spanish machines. I do know that the French CPC464 had AZERTY keycaps on its keyboard but they keys were remapped in ROM rather than there being an actual French keyboard membrane. This means that anything reading the keyboard directly instead of via the ROM routines gets the wrong values. Interestingly wikipedia says that the Schneider CPC didn't get the same treatment, and kept a QWERTY layout instead of QWERTZ. Apparently Software was available that could remap the keys.
