Unfortunately my Windows 95 laptop broke yesterday. It complained about non system disk and it came smoke out of it when I was booting and then it stopped. It still works because I can start with only batteries if I boot from a diskette -- but now I can't charge the batteries. It seems the HDD has broken and then caused problems for the internal power supply. Maybe a capacitor exploded. I think it might have been a bit cold when I started it. Unfortunately one needs a special screwdriver or bits in order to open it. It's a Compaq LTE 5051. I have an IDE to USB adapter and has tried to read the HDD w/o success. I bought the laptop really cheap (79 SEK or 8 Euro) on Ebay (actually Swedish Tradera.com) and wanted to use it to demonstrate that a cheap old laptop could be useful and fun.
