One of the actors they often employed to play various aliens in The Next Generation / Deep Space Nine / Voyager shows (and I think Enterprise as well, but I didn't watch that) was so awful that you could tell it was him no matter what alien make-up they put on him. :-\ > There is typecasting from previous movies, but also I think typecasting > due to body and voice. The voice of Bart Simpson is of course a middle-aged woman (who also voice some other characters) ... of course if he had actually aged as the show went along, he'd almost be a middle-aged man by now. > Fry in "Futurama" sounded like a young guy in his 20s. Nah, the show actually ran for 40 years. ;-) It hasn't ended yet, it's just taking another rest period before being uncancelled again. ;-)

I never saw much of his cop show, but his cop didn't seem like James Kirk the few times I did see it. William Shatner comes > to mind. You have just reminded me of Richard Greene, who was forever Robin Hood in my eyes. His Wiki entry probably explains why, since (if it's safe to ignore repeats) I was only 5 years old when the series came to an end: "he was perhaps best known for the lead role in the long-running British TV series The Adventures of Robin Hood, which ran for 143 episodes from 1955 to 1960." If you think you don't know the series, Monty Python immortalised the signature tune, changing "Robin Hood" to "Dennis Moore" in the sketch of that name: <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLkhx0eqK5w> -- Paul Sture

There's a TV advert in New Zealand where the evil mobile phone Sheriffs steal your unused minutes and data at the end of the month. Robin Hood comes along to save the day via mobile phone provider 2Degrees Carryover plans (where unused minutes and data get stolen at the end of the year instead). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DULEQH92aIk There's apparently a similar, but even worse, advert idea in Australia for Virgin Mobile using "Robin Da Hood" medieval character in a normal modern day setting.

That is, without doubt, his best role. If I were Keanu Reeves on a runaway bus in LA that cannot slow down below 50mph because of a giant bomb under my feet, I'd act exactly the same as if I was a master surfing FBI agent trying to track down a gang of violen surfer-bank robbers and exactly the same as if I were from outer space judging whether the earth should continue to exist or not, and ... In other words, I'd be very consistent. So I'd probably get it right once. > And do you know Reeves wasn't acting exactly as one would if awakened > and told your whole life was a dream in a virtual reality world and you > now lived on some dark, dreary small ship very deep underground with > machines chasing you ? Yeah - that! I take it back. He is a great actor - he's just gotten roles that all demand acting like a slow-witted automoton with no emotions!

Don't get me started about "Much Ado About Nothing"....Although I thought he was pretty good in "Little Buddha." Patty

Having said that, personally I didn't like Speed (what I've seen of it), and Speed 2 would have been even worse since it had the New Zealander Temuera "I can't act but my uncles a big celebrity back home" Morrison in it.

Not true; there was one movie critic many decades ago who had consistent reviews; I knew that if he panned a movie, I'd like it, and if he praised a movie, I wouldn't like it. It took me about six months to figure that out, but for the next five years, it worked perfectly.

Famous story about another actor named Hoffman and Laurence Olivier
shooting Marathon Man. Dustin had stayed up all night, doing his method
stuff, fretting and sweating and getting disheveled and tired ready for
his scene; Sir Laurence ("as 'e woz then") shows up on the set, good
night's sleep, fine breakfast, crease in his pants and asks Hoffman
what's wrong. Hoffman explains that he was preparing for the scene. Sir
Laurence says "Dustin, Dustin, haven't you heard of 'acting?'"
Not sure of that punctuation.

Where's the Vangelis music?
Pris' tongue is sticking out in in the wide shot after Batty has kissed her.
They have put back more tits into the Zhora dressing room scene.

Love that story.

Dabney Coleman comes to mind. Gordon Ramsey is another. (And for that matter, so are many professional wrestlers.)
