So, the new MacOS 11.0 beta was made available today.

It's very nice, but after a couple of hours I turned of transparency.

Mail.app finally respects Font preferences.

Messages is much better.

have barely scratched the surface, of course.

Another day and I can say that the release is very stable, feeling more
like a .5 release. Have had no crashes, not even app crashes. There are
display issues and I am busy filing lots of bugs.

It seems clear to me that this release is paving the way for touch screen
Macs, which I really didn’t think Apple would ever do. Might be another
5 years, but somehow I doubt it.

The only thing so far I really dislike is that the menu bar items are
much wider apart, so there is much less room on the menu bar.

The transparent-by-default menu bar is an abomination, but "reduce
transparency" takes care of that.

Didn't realize they abandoned "X" for 11 until now.

Have you verified if Google Earth (app) runs on 10.15 or 11.x?

I have not run Google Earth in years.

Thanks for the trouble, in the meantime I've setup the Mac Mini and 
installed GE.P and seems okay.  I need to test it with some old 
"layered" projects I did (map overlays, GPS data/trails, annotations, 
etc.).  The deeper stuff that makes GE a fantastic tool if you're into 
anything geographic.

XQuartz is now community based with some help from Apple engineers.
Discussions under way on its future on ARM based Macs.

It is available through MacPorts or build-yourself.
