I found out from one of my Confidential Informants at Apple that all the talk about an iWatch is completely off base; Apple is not developing such a device. Instead, Apple is working on a wearable electronic ring; it will be worn on the user's finger‹any finger the user chooses, but preferably on the non dominant hand. Of course, it will be called the iRing. It will be used to control iPads, iPhones, iPods, and of course Macintosh computers. Anything you would want to do on any of those devices, you would control from the iRing. The marketing slogan will be "One iRing to Rule Them All". -- Michelle PS I forget what today's date is; is it April first?

Wait 'til you see the Android rip-off of the iRing. Users will wear it on their middle fingers and stick it into their rectums. Apple acolytes will say "It stinks." -- I agree with almost everything that you have said and almost everything that you will say in your entire life. usenet *at* davidillig dawt cawm

There have been shoe-shaped phones, but I haven't seen a Maxwell Smart phone-in-a-shoe yet ... you'd probably dial all sorts of weird places while just walking along. A wristwatch mobile phone was also released years ago. :-)

Dick Tracey was just a traced ... ;-) (Hint for the humour impaired: It's a joke. Although I've heard of Dick Tracey, I have never seen or read it.)

Depends for who and for what.
It's not about the "watch" but about integration with the iPhone, the
cloud and services - not to mention apps for it (fitness etc).

OR of course you could use a wi-fi connection, which to some degree makes having a *mobile* phone rather pointless. > - not to mention apps for it (fitness etc). AKA the nutter gym bunnies wearing themselves out quicker. No doubt they're looking forward to cheap 3D printing and the "do it yourself" knee replacements it offers. ;-)

Most mobile services that one would benefit from with the iWatch are
likely to be very low bandwidth - or at least not worse than one would
use with a maps app in any case.
Of course your option to not buy one will be honored almost everywhere.
