every other business, should be hiring people based on their actual 
abilities to do the required job, not based on their gender, ethnicity, 
etc. simply to appease some idiotic "Politically Correct" quota 
idealism.

So this is likely a job created to keep someone on payroll until he/she
finds something else.

However, considering Apple is in IT, and IT is by default populated by
white male geeks, there is a need to actively encourage other type of
humans to choose to go into the IT carreer.


Having monolithic employee force also means you have a monolithic set of
ideas on how to design products (or what products to develop). Having
more diversity gets you different ideas.
