I went through some pain to move to Lion, but moving from Lion to ML was entirely painless. I like the Notification center. I like the new option to have the thing ask before saving changes to documents (and thing it should be set by default). I like the return of the 3-column view in Address Book (though I think CoBook is really slick and am using it more than Contacts) I don't like the loss of auto-lock on documents. See the recent discussions about auto-save. It hasn't otherwise had much of an impact. It's just. Pretty much everything other than those couple of things I noted above seems to work the way it worked before. There are some other more subtle changes (ie. scrollbars), and other things which I don't much use such as documents in the cloud. There are many things I haven't played with yet such as VIPs in mail, dictation, Messages, etc. May explore more later, but none of that stuff gets in the way in the slightest. Other than auto-lock, I can't think of anything lost due to the upgrade.

I don't understand why they can't be available to me when I log into my iCloud web page like my Pages Docs are. Come on Apple you can do better.

At this stage … better and faster than Lion, about on par with Snow Leopard … still has the odd glitch (especially in Mail). Otherwise … no real surprises or incompatabilities.

Anonymous Group: > Is everyone liking mountain lion? I know its not a significant upgrade > but how is everyone liking it? Everyone? Monks in remote areas of the Himalayas? Pre-industrial-revolution Bushmen? Newborn infants? People struggling at the end of their lives? Probably not liking ML. The best you can hope for is to hear from the extremely tiny slice of the Mac-using population that frequents CSMS. Not a typical slice of the Mac community, either. Me? ML works, so I like it just fine. -- I agree with almost everything that you have said and almost everything that you will say in your entire life. usenet *at* davidillig dawt cawm

For me it was. Lion for me was so disappointing and irritating that I skipped it entirely. The worst OS X version ever, IMO. Mountain Lion reverts many of the irritations back to their proper pre-10.7 behaviour. And it adds a bunch of cool new stuff, like Notification Center. That alone is worth the upgrade. There are still some bugs, like: - not being able to entirely disable Resume, -Save As returns but still doesn't work properly (it saves the changes in a new document and closes the original document, but it also automatically saves the changes in the original document, despite me specifying in System Preferences to be asked before that happens, - authentication dialogs appear sometimes for no apparent reason, and the disclosure triange on them that shows the requesting process and requested right has been removed, so I don't know what process wants admin rights and why. For me it's a big enough improvement over Snow Leopard that I made the move up, and it's an enormously huge improvement over Lion; the OS I really really tried to like, and just couldn't. -- K. Lang may your lum reek.

You may get to like it. Checking the what you call "specifying in System Preferences to be asked before that happens" does not disable versions. > - authentication dialogs appear sometimes for no apparent reason, and > the disclosure triange on them that shows the requesting process and > requested right has been removed, so I don't know what process wants > admin rights and why. Yes like I said it really polishes Lion. Makes it more like it should have been all along.

It costs only 100 US currency to be a developer and you don't have to pay the 20 for ML. So for a net cost of 80 dollars for a year let me in early. Some on this forum don't seem to like anything Apple so why O why are they here? I love ML best Mac OS yet and I started with the SE or Plus.
