Lewis wrote, on Thu, 29 Jan 2015 02:19:51 +0000: > The idea that more fonts = more unique. This is Usenet, so, confusion will abound, and clarification will always be needed. We all agree, as shown in the title of this thread, that the goal, for the purpose of bits of identifying information, is to have the most common (screen size, fonts, plugins, time zone, settings, etc.). If, say, the original 1,000 fonts that came with the system are the most common, then having five times that will certainly flag you, if it's not common to have those particular additional 4,000 fonts. However, if it's most common to have those particular 5,000 fonts, then that, of course, would be the desired font set, for the purpose of reducing bits of identifying information.

On any OS. -- I for one cannot protest the recent M.T.A. fare hike and the accompanying promises that this would in no way improve service. For the transit system, as it now operates, has hidden advantages that can't be measured in monetary terms. Personally, I feel that it is well worth 75 cents or even $1 to have that unimpeachable excuse whenever I am late to anything: "I came by subway." Those four words have such magic in them that if Godot should someday show up and mumble them, any audience would instantly understand his long delay.

Simple. I install Droid fonts on my Linux boxes. -- Mac Airways: The cashiers, flight attendants and pilots all look the same, feel the same and act the same. When asked questions about the flight, they reply that you don't want to know, don't need to know and would you please return to your seat and watch the movie.

What does that mean? I'm not sure what an "original" font is, but, to me, a font is pretty darn simple. I could live with two (one monospaced and one not mono spaced), both truetype, and that would cover almost everything I do, which is read the web and type email and Usenet posts. For example, I have absolutely no idea (nor do I care) what font I'm currently typing in, so, why would I want an "original" (whatever that is) or any other font. I'd just want, for privacy reasons, the "same" font that everyone else was using. How would I do that?

I don't have an attitude problem. If you have a problem with my attitude,
that's your problem.
